Americans Face Tough Decisions on What Bill to Pay

Today in the US, one out of ten people are unemployed. As wallets shrink, 10% of consumers are faced with difficult decisions: What bills to pay or not pay. Essentials such as heat and food bills are on equal footing mortgage and credit cards this winter. The results – the highest foreclosure rates since the depression. The American Dream of homeownership is quickly becoming nightmare as one home out of every 100 or so forecloses.

Ricoh has sponsored research conducted by the CMO Council to understand the purchasing habits and bill payment priority within the US mainly comparing essential utility bills to other payments. To date, well over 1000 consumers have weighed in on the battle between mortgages vs. utility payments. Some of the findings are a bit brow raising as we uncover how well or not so well utility industry is assisting or communicating its assistance in these difficult holiday season.
